The Collared Aracari (Pteroglossus torquatus) is a social and active bird found in Costa Rica. Known for its vibrant plumage and large, colorful beak, this toucan species often travels in small flocks. It feeds primarily on fruits, using its beak to reach and manipulate food, but also consumes insects, eggs, and small vertebrates. Collared Aracaris are vocal birds, frequently calling to communicate with flock members. They nest in tree cavities, where they share duties of incubating eggs and feeding chicks. Their playful behavior and striking appearance make them a fascinating sight in tropical forests.
