Long Toes
I made this image of what I believe to be a Northern Jacana in Costa Rica while visiting the CATIE, Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center.

The Northern Jacana (Jacana spinosa) is a water bird commonly found in Costa Rica. Recognizable by its brownish-reddish wings, partly green and black back, yellow beak, and thick white eyebrow extending from the beak to the back of the head, it inhabits freshwater wetlands. These birds are adept at walking on floating vegetation due to their long toes and claws. Northern Jacanas play a vital role in their ecosystem by controlling insect populations and contributing to plant pollination.
